Ian & Averie

I like to take photos of my kiddos.
Sometimes they cooperate.
This was not one of those times.

You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get them to pay attention to me when I have a camera in my hand...
but I always end up with a handful of shots that I swoon over.

Enjoy.

Ian is almost as tall as me. When did 11 year-olds start looking so old?!?

My baby will be 3 next month. I can't take it.

Bella, 4 years: Nashville Child Photographer

Bella usually comes in with her big brother, but today was all about her. She is going to be 4 next week and we had a mini party at the studio today. She is such a little diva and was working the camera!
Her mom Jamie and I both ordered similar top hats months ago, so this made me super excited for my little girl's shoot next month. How gorgeous is Bella??

Great to see you Jamie!  :)

Hess, 6 months: Nashville Baby Photographer

I told Hess I was expecting a great attitude from him this morning since he was so happy at his last shoot. He kindly responded with that gummy grin and big sparkly eyes. Every shot from this session is just adorable and I had to stop myself from picking all smiling images. What a cutie!!

Corinne, 3 months: Nashville Baby Photographer

Corinne came to see me last week and was not having it. Poor girl was so sleepy and paid zero attention to me. However, we tried again today and she was in a fantastic mood. I got smiles like you wouldn't believe! Ok, I'll just show them to you...  :)

Ava, 6 months: Nasvhille Baby Photographer

The ever adorable Ava graced my presence again this morning. She is halfway through our first year package and proved she has this modeling thing down. I was loving all of her expressions and told her it looked like she was chewing gum for half the session. And check out her Halloween costume--love it!!

Maddox, 1 year: Nashville Baby Photographer

I have loved watching this little man get bigger (and more feisty) over the past year. Mom warned me earlier in the week that I was going to have my work cut out for me with this busy guy, but his session was a piece of cake! He charmed me again and I really am going to miss seeing him all the time.

Thanks for letting me capture his first year, Chandra and Ryan!

Isabel, 9 months: Nashville Baby Photographer

Isabel had me laughing so hard during her shoot today. She has learned how to yell & scream and she was letting me have it! She is completely happy, but just enjoys being loud and she knows she was entertaining all of us. It was the funniest thing ever. I couldn't resist posting one of my favorites shots of her doing it, but it's at then end... ha ha ha.

And the yelling I was talking about...  ;)

Caroline, 1 year: Murfreesboro Baby Photographer

I spent the morning with my sweet cousin and her family...battling mosquitos. They were awful. We were swarmed and they even followed us to her car and we were swatting them as we left....

However, I think they will agree with me that is was well worth it when they see these. Sweet Caroline just turned ONE a few days ago. She has grown so much and just continues to be the happiest baby around. I adore her.
Loved spending the morning with you Lindsey and Chris! ♥

Happy Birthday, Caroline.

Dropping everything...

This week has been one of the worst weeks I've had in a really long time. It will go down as one if the worst ever, actually. Sometimes when these storms roll in you have to figure out how to pick yourself up and keep pushing along.

This morning, we woke up at my house and decided to drop everything.
I had tons of work to catch up on.
Our house is a wreck.
We needed to go to the grocery store.
We needed to get so. many. things. done.
But we just said screw it.

Instead, we got in the car and headed to the zoo. It may not seem like that is a big deal, but trust me--it was. The Nashville Zoo is extremely significant to our family.  We were one of the first families there this morning and spent several hours walking, laughing, enjoying each other...just the 4 of us. It was so nice to be there so early when there were no crowds and the animals were playful. The day was beautiful, our kids behaved perfectly (for once), and it was a tiny bit of healing that I needed this week.

Standing in the spot where we got married... September 15, 2007.

It was a good day.
