What better way to spend the last day of 2016 than watching new life enter the world?
I got the call about 6:55AM yesterday that Liz & Kyle were heading to the hospital. It was raining, cold, and quiet.
When I got to Liz's room, she was in the midst of transition and trying to get into her zone. This mama is a warrior. She was roaring her way through her contractions and trying to relax in between, but they were not giving her much of a break.
She did not want to be touched, but eventually allowed her mom and husband to provide a little bit of support.
It was a fast labor without medication and even though Liz expressed she wasn't sure how she was going to do this, she was a champion.
Liz and Kyle didn't know whether they were having a boy or girl, so when this baby came out we all encouraged Liz to look and see who she was was working so hard to meet. Her instinct was right--it was a girl!
After some contemplation, it was announced that her name would be Elizabeth "Ellie" Jane.
Congratulations, Liza & Kyle! Thank you for letting me document Ellie's entrance into the world. There is nothing more special and I feel so grateful that you trusted me to capture her first breaths and your first meeting. I can't wait to see you all again next week and see Hughes with his baby sister!
